Warangal Warriors: Being Brave by Being Selfless

Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. ― Martin Luther King, Jr.

In uncertain times like we are in today, there are always a chosen few who prove that being selfless is not very different from being brave. Our Warangal team offered a helping hand to those who could not make ends meet during the COVID-19 crisis.

Amidst the pandemic, we realized that while the world’s biggest economies were announcing relief packages, the governments in developing countries lacked resources to offer similar relief. While local government groups and volunteer groups were doing their best to provide food and clean water to the underprivileged, there are only so many people they can reach.

This made us think about our responsibility toward helping those in need and doing our bit for the community. That’s when the Warangal team joined forces and formed groups to raise money for this noble cause. The team decided to help the daily wagers and others affected by the pandemic by providing them with food and other necessities.

Since Cyient has adopted ZPHS School in Madikonda in Warangal, our team decided to help the children studying there. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team connected us with the school management, which provided us with a list of families in need. They also contacted these families and requested them to come to ZPHS School to receive essentials.

With the lockdown, we faced several operational challenges, but with the cooperation of our CSR team, we managed to help 75 families with groceries that could feed them for 15 days. We also provided fruits to more than 75 brave police officers who are tirelessly taking care of the community and urging people to stay at home to contain the spread of the virus.

All the while, it was imperative to practice social distancing and ensure everyone’s health and safety while we worked for this noble cause. Although the distribution of groceries and other necessities to these families was not easy, the team rallied together to make it possible.

Working to help people during this challenging time has only reaffirmed our faith that extraordinary things happen when you do something with integrity and selflessness.
